La Niña- Final Episode

Throughout the show Belky was always targeted by someone. As her being apart of la Guerrilla for about seven years and being el Comandante's favorite, she had many enemies all around her. They all wanted to kill her when she finally escaped and made a better life for herself through studying to become a doctor. Belky was targeted by men who were apart of the military, other of her ex-Guerrilla people, and even her own Professor. Slowly, but surely as the telenovela was coming to its end all of the bad guys were taken to jail and locked away. This in turn made the audience happy since all of the pieces were finally coming together to allow Belky to live the life she deserves. Although there is typically a stigma in Colombia concerning members of la Guerrilla, this story allows viewers to empathize with the protagonist and want her to live a better life.
Although it may be a perfect ending by having all the bad guys in jail, that simply was not enough for the telenovela. There was so much more to the story than just the people who tried to kill her. Manuel and her finally got together (for real this time). However, there was an unexpected ending to the viewer. Belky was in contact with this one man who decided to make a documentary over her life and how she has since moved on from all of those events. She does it and the very end of the episode is the unveiling of the documentary. It turns out that it's called La Niña and shows the audience on the screen watching it. However, it's all scenes from the show which means that the entire telenovela was basically a documentary of Belky's life. This show has elements that make it exactly like its genre of being a telenovela, but creates a spin on it in order to engage the viewer. It did such a great job that "La Niña, which aired in 2016, was a huge success, securing over a 33 audience share and an 11 rating, becoming the No. 1 series on Colombia Prime Franja (Primetime).  La Niña has been sold to more than 60 countries and currently is streaming on Netflix" (Petski). There are also talks about the show being developed for a U.S. series.
